Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating: what it is and how to use it

Turtle Wax calls Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating a ceramic car wax: you spray it on a clean, dry car, wipe it in and buff it off, panel by panel. Its US page doesn’t give a protection length or an SiO2 figure; its UK page claims 12 months. It’s a spray sealant for regular upkeep, not a professional ceramic coating.

What Turtle Wax says it is

Turtle Wax describes it as a ceramic car wax that seals the finish, with a super-hydrophobic formula and high gloss, and lists it as a multi-surface coating without saying which surfaces. Its US page gives no SiO2 percentage and no protection length, only “long-lasting protection.”

Turtle Wax’s UK page for the same product claims 12 months of protection and says it can be applied in direct sunlight. The two pages also differ on how much to spray, so follow the directions on the bottle you buy.

How to apply it

From Turtle Wax’s US page:

  • Wash and dry the car. Clay first if there’s tar, bugs or bird droppings on the paint.
  • Shake, then spray two mists per 2 ft by 2 ft section.
  • Wipe it in with a microfiber towel, then flip to a clean, dry side and buff.
  • Work panel by panel.
  • For a second coat, wait 24 hours.

Is it a real ceramic coating?

Not in the sense a shop means. A professional coating is applied after paint prep, often correction, and cures into a layer that is rated in years. A spray like this is quick upkeep you reapply. It can be a good way to keep a car protected between washes, or to top up beading.

Over a professional coating, check with the coating’s maker or installer first; some warranties name the products you can use.

The rest of the Hybrid Solutions line

Turtle Wax’s US range includes a Ceramic Polish & Wax, which it says removes swirls, light scratches and oxidation and is for painted surfaces only, plus a wash and wax, a detailer, a wet wax and graphene-labeled trim and tire products. None of the listings give a protection length in months.

Professional installation

Ask shops what’s in the price

Find installers near you, then ask about the exact product, the prep and which surfaces get coated.
