The three things a quote is actually built from
A shop quoting a coating is pricing three separable decisions, and a quote that does not break them out is hiding which one it has assumed.

The paint. This is the one that moves quotes by four figures. A coating is optically clear and it seals whatever is under it, so swirled paint has to be corrected first or the swirls are preserved for the length of the term. Correction is its own job at a median of $450, and on a used car it is frequently more than the coating.
What a cheap quote has usually left out
Almost always the correction. A coating applied over unprepared paint takes the same afternoon and produces a car that looks worse in two years than it did before, because now the defects are under a hard clear layer. The second omission is the maintenance schedule: a long warranty term with required washes at the shop's own rates is a subscription with a coating attached, and it belongs in the comparison.
